We proudly celebrate the remarkable achievement of Tumusiime Daniella, our Primary Seven learner at Sir Apollo Kaggwa Primary School Kira, who earned national recognition after emerging among the top finalists in the Bank of Uganda (BoU@60) Primary Schools Poetry Competition.
Daniella was selected as one of the 22 best performers from more than 3,000 poetry entries submitted by learners from across Uganda, making her journey to the grand finale a remarkable accomplishment. The prestigious event was held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Bank of Uganda Headquarters in Kampala, where the finalists showcased their creativity, confidence, and eloquence before a distinguished audience.
During the grand finale, Daniella delivered an outstanding performance with her poem titled “Treasure in Our Hands.” Through her powerful presentation, she highlighted the importance of responsible currency handling, encouraging Ugandans to keep banknotes flat, clean, dry, and free from stains or ink marks. Her performance demonstrated not only her creativity but also her ability to use poetry as a tool for education and positive change.
Daniella’s exceptional performance earned her 45.75 points out of 60, placing her in an impressive 5th position among the 22 national finalists. This achievement reflects her dedication, confidence, and passion for poetry, as well as the unwavering support and guidance she received throughout her preparation.
Her success is a true reflection of the impact of our Talent Development Program, which continues to identify, nurture, and develop learners’ abilities beyond the classroom. Through mentorship, training, and opportunities to showcase their talents, the programme has helped learners like Daniella build confidence and compete on national platforms.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Bank of Uganda for organising the BoU@60 Primary Schools Poetry Competition and for providing a meaningful platform that allowed young learners to express themselves, showcase their creativity, and take part in a national celebration of talent. The competition, held to mark the Bank’s 60th anniversary, reflects the institution’s commitment to investing in young people and empowering them to contribute to Uganda’s development journey.
We also appreciate our staff and Daniella’s parents for the invaluable support, encouragement, and guidance they provided throughout her preparation. Their commitment and partnership played a significant role in helping her build confidence, refine her skills, and achieve this remarkable milestone. Our entire school community celebrates their contribution to Daniella’s success.
The grand finale brought together talented pupils, schools, teachers, parents, judges, and partners whose efforts made the competition a great success. Addressing the finalists, the Deputy Governor shared an inspiring message: “You are all winners,” reminding the young participants that their courage, creativity, and participation were achievements worth celebrating.

Daniella’s achievement is an inspiration to other pupils and a testament to our belief that every learner has unique abilities that can be nurtured to achieve excellence.
